Fehmi Korkut ULUĞ Collection

The collection consisting of one photograph and 18 pieces of oil paintings made by Fehmi Korkut ULUĞ, the grandson of Çanakkale Battles Veteran Hasan Fehmi, was donated to our museum in 2001 and has been on display since.

This special collection accompanies the visitors to a travel in time by depicting “Çanakkale Battles and The Rise of Kuva-yı Milliye”. The painter was inspired by the photo of his grandfather, who was the commanding officer of a company sent from İzmir to Çanakkale. In the paintings, besides revealing the bright and dark sides of the battle, the state of mind of the Turkish and Anzac soldiers and the themes of birth and death are often referred to.
